The majority of the Daily Kos community has been accused of being "too far left" and "out of touch" with the mainstream principles of the Democratic Party.
I don't know about how "Far Left" I am, but it is clear that I am out of touch with the mainstream principles of the Democratic Party. Join me over the flip to see if you....join me...
Here are some of my beliefs, which are out of touch with the mainstream principles of the Democratic party.
- The 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th Amendments of the Constitution should be on the same level as the 2nd Amendment.
- Nobody should be above the rule of law.
- No soldier should be asked "to be the last man to die in [Afghanistan]....to be the last man to die for a [doomed occupation]".
- Health care is a public safety issue that is equivalent to protection by the police and fire departments.
- Working class taxpayers should not be funding billions of dollars in bonuses for Wall Street cheats.
- Transparency does not include secret, backroom deals with Big PhRMA.
Now if you think these beliefs are outside the "mainstream" of the Democratic Party, then I sadly have to agree with you. The policies and agenda they've pursued have directly contradicted the above principles.
But if you think these beliefs are on the "Far Left", then you have contracted the same blindness that has afflicted Robert Gibbs, the Obama Administration and most everyone else in the "Beltway Bubble".
